Corrections in version 3.04c

31/05/2001

·        Converting a file to MP3 or WMA from the Master Section could cause a crash.

·        Samplers: a file received from a sampler could be damaged.

·        In certain cases, it was not possible to burn multiple CDs (when setting this option in the “Write CD” dialog)

·        Audio Montage: a copy/paste anomaly has been fixed.

·        Audio Montage: Unpleasant graphical flashing could occur when making a selection in a clip.

·        Users under Windows 2000 in “User Mode” could not access the CDR drive.

·        The latest CDR drivers are installed in this patch.

Main changes/corrections in version 3.04b

09/05/2001

·        Additions

·        It is now possible to burn CD-Text from a CD-Montage (but not CD-Program). There is a new column and menu entry in the CD tab. The CDR info dialog (menu View) shows if your device is capable of writing CD-Text.

·        HAlion support: you can drag and from an audio file selection onto the HAlion key zone editor. You can also more simply use copy and paste: copy the wave selection in WaveLab, then paste it onto the HAlion key zone editor. Moreover, if you use Control+Shift+C, the region description is added to the clipboard (the old clipboard is untouched); this allows you to copy more than one region to the HAlion in a single paste operation. Note: if the file was edited in WaveLab, you should save it before “transmitting” it to the HAlion; as a matter of fact, the HAlion loads the file from disk, not from “WaveLab”. Another point: when you have made a change to loop markers or to the sample attributes (eg. key note assigned to the sample), and want to save the changes to disk so as to be able to load later the file into the HAlion, then you should use the function “Save as”. The reason is that these informations are saved in the file header, and this one is only recreated if the audio is resaved in the file. With the “Save” function alone, WaveLab does not save the audio if this one was not changed (but the .MRK marker file, which is not a WAV standard, is updated), hence the need to use the “Save as” function in that case.

·        Pentium IV optimizations (the previous version was already optimized for Pentium III, II, Pro, MMX).

·        When loading plugins, WaveLab now displays the plugin file names in the status bar, at the bottom of the screen. This can be an useful diagnostic if a bad plugin causes the program to halt. Also, WaveLab tries to display an error message if a plugin has an erroneous behaviour (at load time).

·        Audio Montage: the minimum clip’s length has been changed from 100 ms to 20 ms.

·        Audio Database: now double-clicking on a file name opens the dialog to edit properties, while double-clicking on the small wave icon (on the left side) opens the wave in an edit window (as in past versions).

·        The frequency resolution of the 3D frequency analysis has been multiplied by 8 (at the expense of speed). This gives a better resolution in the low frequencies (2.7 Hz).

·        Markers are now copied along with audio when doing copy/paste or drag and drop of regions in audio file windows.

·        The latest CDR drivers are installed in this patch.

·        Main Bug fixes

·        Time-stretching or pitch-shifting the right channel of a stereo wave would cause a crash.

·        It was only possible to type 11 characters for the ISRC template in the preferences (now 12 is possible)

·        When recording a file and the disk becomes full, an error message is now displayed and the already recorded sound material is preserved.

·        When saving a preset (eg. Master Section Preset), the preset was not saved if the preset file was set as “read-only”. This could occur eg. if the preset file was restored from a backup CD. This problem does not occur anymore.

·        Audio Montage: when burning a montage, there could be a problem when using, in the Master Section, certain plugins with an internal latency.

·        Audio Montage: it was not possible to mute a clip if that clip was attached to a VST plugin with an internal delay.

·        Audio Montage’s auto-grouping: when dragging a clip from right to left till the position zero, the linked clips could still move further to the left.

·        Fixed: rare problem, not specific to a particular function, that could cause the program to crash.

·        Record box: Spectrum display: the display was wrong when monitoring a mono input signal.

·        AutoSplit dialog: 2 parameters were not saved with a preset.

·        Sample Loop info is now preserved when batch-processing a file.

·        AutoSplit: sometimes, when “splitting according to silences”, the start of a region was set too early.

·        DC-Offset: the percentage displayed for the right channel was by mistake always 0.

·        Normalize: when normalizing a file which is already normalized, the processing will be skipped (rather than recreating an identical file)

·        Audio Montage: function “Play clip with pre-roll”: playback did not stop at the end of the clip, and the clip was no solo-ed.

·        Audio Database: the text-search function did not work properly in certain cases.

·        In the Sample Attribute dialog, the middle C has been changed from C4 to C3 (to match the Cubase convention).

·        Sample Loop information was not saved in AIFF files (function “Save As”).

·        Converting an Audio-Montage to MP3 or WMA would cause a crash (only with version 3.03).

Corrections in version 3.03d

02/02/2001

·        The latest CDR drivers are installed in this patch.

·        Audio Montage: the clip function “Substitute for existing wave” would cause the program to crash when selecting an audio file too short to fit in the clip.

·        More tolerant to open certain MP3 files with an unusual header.

·        When rendering a montage to a Windows Audio Media file (WMA), the wrong settings could be used (those last used when rendering an audio file to WMA).

·        Batch processor: fix for a problem with certain preset file names. Note: in WaveLab 3.0, the plugins that contained blank characters in their name produced preset files with the same name but with underscores (‘_’) in place of the blank characters. In WaveLab 3.03, this procedure has been given up. This has resulted in some preset files not being recognized by version 3.03. If you are in that case, simply rename those preset files by replacing the ‘_’ characters with ‘ ‘ characters. Preset files are located in the folder WaveLab/System/

Corrections in version 3.03c

18/01/2001

·        VST plugins with MIDI support were previously rejected. This is not the case anymore (but no MIDI is supported). This allows the GRM Tools Vol.2 plugins to now be recognized.

·        In the CD-Write dialog, the speed 16x was not selectable.

·        CD-Burning: if a stereo-to-mono plugin was inserted in the Master Section (or the Master Section “Mono” button was pressed), then wrong data would be burnt on the CD.

·        Audio Montage: if a Stereo-to-mono plugin was inserted in the Master Section, then the Vu-Meter display was not exact.

·        Audio Montage: the option “Clone and substitute clip” would file with 32 bit float files.

·        Recording options: the minimum values for the thresholds has been set to –96 dB.

·        The latest CDR drivers are installed in this patch.

Corrections in version 3.03b

13/12/2000

·        When the option “Save preferences on exit” was not active, and a CDR function was used, then WaveLab would crash when exiting.

·        Audio Montage: Muting/Unmuting or Locking/Unlocking a clip cleared the undo history.

·        AutoSplit function: when splitting a mono file and creating a montage, the resulting montage could later cause a crash.

·        AutoSplit function: when splitting according to unpaired markers (eg. generic marker), the region between the file start and the first marker was ignored.

·        AutoSplit function, when saving regions as individual files: if not already existing, the destination folder is now created automatically.

·        Audio CD grabbing: for large CD tracks, the size of a track was wrongly reported in the start/end/length edit fields (below the CD track list).

·        Audio CD grabbing: playing back a CD track could sometimes cause the program to hang.

·        Audio Database: audio files located on a mapped network drive could not be open.

·        Audio Montage: in certain rare and random cases, some clips would disappear from the window (it was a graphical problem).

·        Audio Montage: using the character ‘.’ In the file name of a montage could cause the program to hang while saving the montage.

·        Audio Montage: dragging and dropping a clip into the clip list pane of the group page would cause a crash.

·        Audio Montage, CD Wizard: the gap between the first CD marker and the first clip would not be correctly adjusted in some cases.

·        Audio Montage, CD Wizard: adjusting the gaps between the markers and the clips, and only that, is now enabled; this function does not shift the clips.

·        After burning a CD, WaveLab could (rarely) prevent exiting the application, argueing that some processes were still running.

·        When changing the sample rate of a file, the markers located near the end would not have their position adjusted correctly.

·        Waveform Restorer: correction for some of the displayed explanations. Moreover, the minimum sample selection length has been vhanged from 100 ms to 2 sec.

·        The function “File / Save Special / Convert” did not copy the markers.

·        Folder/file selection box (in various dialogs): sometimes the dialog box would not open in the expected folder.

·        Sampler communication: the transfer with certain SCSI devices could fail (espescially with Emu devices).

·        The latest CDR drivers are installed in this patch.

·        The latest CDDB driver is installed in this patch.

Main changes/corrections in version 3.03a

25/09/2000

·        AutoSplit function (menu “Edit”).

·        Automatically split audio files at beats, silences, markers or specific intervals.

·        Regions can be saved as new audio files, or added as clips into an Audio Montage. Markers can also be created at region edges.

·        Several methods are proposed to automatically name regions; silence can be inserted at the start/end of regions, etc…

·        High quality Pitch bend (menu “Process”). You can create any pitch envelope and apply it to an audio selection to create stunning effects.

·        Waveform Restorer (menu “Level”). This new restoration tool allows you to repair automatically the waveform to remove a click or replace some missing samples. Several methods are proposed. For the function to work, you first have to select the area of the wave where lies the irregularity. The more accurate the selection, the better (you need zooming).

·        Much enhanced CD Audio extraction

·        Modeless dialog (ie. non-blocking dialog, can remain open while working in WaveLab).

·        CDDB support (see the corresponding button/menu)

·        CD tracks can be individually renamed before being saved (also, now one chooses a destination folder, not a destination file name as before)

·        Option to convert on the fly to MP3 or WMA file formats.

·        Direct Playback of CD tracks (by grabbing the audio from the CD and playing it back through the audio card in the same time).

·        « Ultra-safe » mode : an optional procedure that reads the CD tracks multiple times, doing a checksum each time, to ensure the most possible faithful results.

·        Option "Convert to Montage": all CD tracks are extracted and a montage with the proper CD Track Markers is created . Same option to create a CD Program instead. This function interprets the digital silence between tracks to compute pauses (ie. it does not read sub-code).

·        Option "CD Info" that shows the CD Catalog Number and its total size.

·        Option to extract and display ISRC codes

·        Option "Check reading speed". When grabbing, it's not uncommon that hard-disk writing is a bottleneck. If you want to check the real maximum grabbing speed, you can use this function.

·        “CD Reading Method”. Some drives might not be properly recognized by the default CD driver recognition procedure. In that case, you can switch to another grabbing method.

·        Option "Automatically refresh". The CD-Track list is automatically refreshed when a CD is ejected or inserted.

·        Option to display time units with CD frames or standard minutes/seconds notation (default)

·        Local menu when right-clicking a CD track: "rename", "save", "play", "append to montage".

·        A warning is now issued, before actually starting grabbing, if a file is to be overwritten or is already open in WaveLab.

·        Drag and drop of CD-Track: you can drag one or more tracks to the WaveLab desktop, to save them, or you can drag them into an Audio Montage window. In that last case, you can drag them in the clip list, or in the track pane.

·        Support for Windows Audio Media file format (WMA). Whereever you can encode in MP3 in WaveLab, you can now also encode in WMA. Decoding is not supported.

·        Easy batch dialog to convert multiples files to MP3 or WMA (menu “File”)

·        “Easy Fade” function (menu “Level”). This function performs a fade-in if the current selection starts from the start of the file, or a fade-out if the selection finishes at the end of the file. This is a function for productivity: with a single key shortcut (Ctrl+D) you can fade the audio without going through any dialog.

·        29.97 Drop Frame mode now supported

·        WaveLab can now recognize the new VST plugins introduced with Cubase 5.0. Cubase 5.0 needs to be installed on the same computer. If you have Cubase VST 32 installed, then you can also use the Reverb32 and Apogee plugins. Important note concerning the Apogee UV22: 1) it should be the very last plugins used 2) the Master Section faders should be set to no gain at all 3) the Master Section dithering and noise-shaping options should be off. In other words, the UV22 should be the very last process applied to the samples before being rendered to 16 bits.
Note: the VST plugins should be located in the VST shared folder (ie. shared by the other VST applications). This file path is defined in the registry at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VST\ [VSTPluginsPath]. If you use the standard installation options, this should already be set.

·        Updated CDR drivers (CDR drivers are also available as an independant patch).

·        Internet links. From the help menu, it is now possible to open your internet browser to a number of interesting Steinberg places. It is also possible to send feedback directly to the WaveLab development office.

·        System Info. From the help menu, it is now possible to get a very detailed report about your system. This might be useful if you need to get in touch with Steinberg’s technical support.

·        Crash trace. If WaveLab crashes (something that should never happen <g>), a text file is created to report some information about the case. The text file is called “WaveLab.log” and is created in the WaveLab folder. This information could be useful to the technical support.

·        Japanese language can be selected in the preferences (only if you’re on a Japanese compatible system)

·        Some User interface enhancements

·        Several dialogs are now resizable, mainly dialogs with lists (CD Grabber, Batch converter, Sample loop editing, ...). Sizes and positions are persistent between sessions.

·        Improved style of message boxes

·        Improved File Selector Box (Win98 and Windows 2000).

·        Improved Folder Selector Box (Win2000 or if Internet Explorer 5.x is installed)

·        Improved Multi-monitor support

·        The last “open” and “save” folders are now memorized independantly from each other (ie. the default path which is used when the open/save file selector box opens). Reminder: the last folders are also memorized  independantly for each type of document (audio file, montage, etc...)

·        Right click on the "open" or "new" toolbar icons are shortcuts to open or create audio files (ie. no popup menus open).

·        The list of "recent Files" is checked when launching the program: all non-existing files are now removed from the list.

·        The list of recent folders in the file open/save dialog box is now sorted by date of use and not by name.

·        When a text file is displayed (eg. cue-sheet), your default text editor is used (ie. not necessarily Notepad if you have another text editor associated with .txt files).

·        The application uninstaller is now localized in german, french or japanese.

·        The filename extension for MP3 files is now using low case letters ("mp3", before it was “MP3”)

·        Audio Montage

·        New option “Reset plugins when starting playback” (“Edit” page, menu “Option”). If this option is activated, the plugins are ordered (before playback starts) to release all samples they could have memorized beforehand. Without this procedure, a small click could happen when the playback position reaches the start of some clips. This option is useful for plugins such as reverb or delays. However, if many plugins are used in a montage, this could result in a small delay when starting playback, according to how fast is your computer; this is why it’s an optional setting (off by default). It is worth noting that some rare plugins mistakenly ignore the reset command: see next feature.

·        New option “Reset plugins before rendering” (“Edit” page, menu “Option”). A few rare plugins are only properly initialized the first time there are created and ignore the VST “Reset” command that WaveLab could send them (ie. they have a bug). This can sometimes cause a short click at the start of clips, when the audio montage is rendered to a file or CD. If you use such plugins, the only option is to reload the plugins before rendering to a file or CD. This is what happens if you activate this WaveLab option. Note that this option requires as much more memory as if the same montage was opened twice.

·        It is now possible to drag and drop a file, selection or clip directly into the clip list, to insert it anywhere you like.

·        It is now possible to drag and drop files from a database to an Audio Montage.

·        Drag and drop is now possible between two Montage clip lists (in fact, equally betwen the track pane and the related clip list, or between different clip lists)

·        The CD-Wizard now only sets a name to the CD track start marker, not to the end marker anymore (this improves reading on the time line).

·        Fades which are created automatically by the program, now have the shape defined as default.

·        Improved file browser pane (faster, more complete and now displays networks).

·        Slightly increased accuracy of the time line at deep zoom levels

·        Improved accuracy of the time line for the time code units, when zooming deeply.

·        The “Esc” key now works like for audio files: it toggles the range selection on and off.

·        Besides opening the marker menu, right-clicking in the marker ruler now moves the edit cursor at that position, but if a marker already lies there. This make it easier to create new markers with the mouse.

·        The CD-Wizard settings are now saved with the Audio Montage Template (menu “File/Save Special/Save as template”).

·        If you single-click in the clip zone to drag a clip (by default the bottom part of the clip), the edit cursor is moved there. Previously, you had to click on the upper part of the clip (this is still actual).

·        The undo/redo key shortcuts for cursor/zoom/position in an Audio Montage have been changed to NumericPad 7/8 (the previous choice was not compatible with all keyboards)

·        Miscallenous features

·        The Master Section’s panel has now a Mono/Stereo switch. A –6dB gain is applied when the Mono mode is applied. This button replaces the “Reset peaks” button (to now reset the peak indicators, simply click on them).

·        In the “Write CD” dialog, one can now specify to burn more than one CD. If you choose to burn more than one CD, a message will tell you when to insert a new CD, until the desired number of CDs is made.

·        The option “Eject CD on success” has been added to the CD recording progress box.

·        The quality of the algorithm used in the function “Convert sample rate" (Process menu) has been improved (yet slower).

·        In the General preferences, there is a new option called “Optimize audio file headers”. In the previous WaveLab version, this option was always active and not accessible. Now you have the choice to switch it off. This can be useful as certain other audio applications don’t recognize this (perfectly legal) header format. This option is active by default.

·        WaveLab would reject certain AIFF files that did not conform correctly to the standard. Now WaveLab is more tolerant in this matter.

·        New option in the preferences, CD page: “Automatically set the pause of the first track to 2 seconds before burning". If this option is activated, WaveLab does not issue any error message if the first pause is not set to a minimum of 2 seconds (Montage and CD Program) and the pause is automatically adjusted to 2 seconds just before burning. Reminder: the audio red-book standard imposes the first track to be at least 2 seconds long. This option is active by default.

·        Improved performances when adding thousands of files in a batch.

·        MP3 files are no more decoded twice when included in a batch. They are only decoded before being processed.

·        MP3 files are now supported in the Database.

·        The edit function “Edit/Paste special/Mix” now allows you specify a gain for the two signals to mix.

·        Under Windows NT/2000, the program icon/links are created in the “All users” domain, and not anymore in the “Administrator” domain.

·        WaveLab is now fully compatible with network path notations (eg. \\Server\path\…). Before, it was not possible to save a file over a network.

·        Proper support of Asian character sets (and more generally, of any language using double-character sets).

·        The database can now reference files over networks.

·        The time-stretch dialog now has an the option "preserve pitch". If the option is off, the pitch is changed to change the audio length (better quality if you don’t mind changing the pitch).

·        The record mixer can show more sliders than before.

·        One can now select 192 kHz as sample rate in the Audio attribute dialog

·        When doing "Save as" for an Audio Montage, and if an Audio-Montage with the same name already exists, then WaveLab now requests a confirmation before overwriting the old file.

·        New “DDP level" option in the preferences (for HDA’s DDP driver)

·        Now compatible with HDA’s driver for UMATIC devices (to create CDs)

·        Doing "Silence" on the end of a wave is no more executed as a "Remove end” operation.

·        Slightly improved performances when saving an audio file with the “Save” or “Save As” function.

·        Improved accuracy when displaying the effective CD burning speed (in the CD burning progress box)

·        The Fade-in and Fade-out menu items (menu “Level”) have been replaced by a single item: “Fade-In/Out”. The dialog opens in fade-in mode if the current selection starts from the start of the wave. The dialog opens in fade-out mode if the current selection finishes at the end of the wave. In other cases, the mode is the one that was last selected.

·        In previous versions, when adding audio files to a CD Program, you get a warning if these audio files don’t have any CD marker. Now you have the option to display the warning only once, and not once for each file.

·        CD Recorders up to a speed of 24x are supported (if they ever come to exist…)

·        One can now specify up to 3 decimals for the decibel values in the “Gain”and “Normalize” dialogs (menu “Level”). The speed of these two functions has also been improved.

·        The Normalizer function (menu “Level” and in Batch Processor) has a new option “Mix to Mono”. This allows you to mix a stereo file to produce a mono file without clipping.

·        The function “Eliminate DC Offset” (menu “Level”) is more accurate and faster.

·        When the MasterSection’s Apply dialog opens for an audio file (not Audio Montage), then the option “Process Selection” is now the default choice if a part of the audio file is selected.

·        When changing the sample rate of an audio file, the marker positions are now moved accordingly.

·        The Master Section’s “Apply” dialog has a new button to set as output file name the same name as the source file (audio file or montage). The folder is preserved, only the file name is replaced.

·        If one tries to record a file larger than 2GB, an error message is now issued and recording stops (recorded data is preserved)

·        The function "Zoom selection" (audio window) now yields to a better centring of the zoomed samples.

·        There is now a file called "Plugins to ignore.txt" in the WaveLab system folder. In this file, you can type the file name of some VST plugins you would like WaveLab to ignore. Anytime you change this file, you should also erase the file "plugins.set" (this last file is automatically regenerated by WaveLab).

·        In an Audio editing window, a marker line does not become invisible anymore if another marker lies at the same position.

·        Improved alphabetical sorting of plugins in the Master-Section menus.

·        Main Bug fixes

·        The program could sometimes crash when exiting, if the mode “Playback in background” was disabled.

·        The program could crash when using the function “Revert to saved”, if the audio file was part of a montage or CD program.

·        When searching for files, the database was ignoring the files with an embedded [.] character in their name.

·        The program could freeze when opening the record dialog box.

·        A few problems with the Sampler communication engine.

·        When rendering an audio montage to MP3 (from the Master Section), the MP3 settings defined for rendering audio files (and not the montage) were used.

·        Dragging a clip with some effects generating a tail (eg. Echo) beyond the play position would produce a crash.

·        In some rare cases, the time-stretch processor could cause a crash.

·        Selecting the end of a wave did not select the very last sample in certain cases (could be a problem when fading-out)

·        The option “Save special/Save left-right channel” proposed a wrong default file name in the file selector box.

·        DirectX plugins with a name longer than 40 characters were not properly recognized.

·        It was not possible to save in 32 bit from the function "File/Save special/Convert"

·        Some volume envelope points (Audio Montage) would mistakenly be moved when resizing a clip in a particular context.

·        After using the "Apply" function on a window (audio file or montage) which is was maximized, the window is now correctly restored to is maximized size after being minimized during the time of the process.

·        The Cd-Wizard option "Adjust pause before track / Round existing pauses to closest second" would not work properly in certain cases.

·        In the Cd-Wizard, is was mistakenly possible to enable the option "Adjust gaps" while the option "Adjust pauses" was disabled. In fact, it is only possible to use the option "Adjust gaps" if the option "Adjust pauses" is also enabled.

·        Using the pause function or auto-start function while recording in "24 bit alt" mode would add some noise at the very start (as long as the pause buffer length).

·        Fixed in montage: Resizing the edge of one audio clip that's part of a group would select all clips in that group, even if the option "a mouseclick selects a group" was not activated.

·        Time stretch dialog: the tempo was rounded to the unity when changing the bar length (ie. no decimals were computed)

Note: from this new version, we slightly change the system we use to describe the version number: we won’t use anymore the term “build X”. Instead, we shall use a letter (eg. “a”) to qualify the version. Eg. this new version is 3.03a. Next version will be 3.03b, or 3.04a, or…

Main changes/corrections in version 3.01-build 12

28/03/2000

·        Updated CDR drivers (CDR drivers are also available as an independant patch).

·        When burning a CD under Windows 2000, an error message was sometimes displayed at the end. In fact, the CD was correctly burnt, and the message had no reason to be issued.

·        Fixes a problem that could cause sometimes the program to freeze when opening the record dialog (mainly under Windows 2000).

·        Fixes a problem that could cause the program to freeze during its starting under certain Windows 2000 configurations.

·        Fixes a problem that could prevent displaying the record mixer with certain audio cards.

·        Pressing F6 to play the current selection, was sometimes restarting playback from the start of the wave/montage.

·        Pressing 4/5 (numeric pad) to move playback position from marker to marker was not working correctly if the edit cursor was visible.

·        Folding/Unfolding dialog boxes is possible again (double-click on the caption bar).

·        Receiving stereo samples from a sampler could produce clicks in the right channel.

·        Cancelling a dump from a sampler would prevent closing the dialog box later. Focus problem also corrected in the Sampler dialogs.

·        Transport bar : programming the playback to stop on a marker or selection edge does not cause anymore the cursor to jump back to its start position when stopping.

·        Transport bar : the playback option « start from beginning of file » could work erroneously.

·        The warning message about the need to have a fast computer to be able to scroll during playback is now only displayed once (for Audio-Montages).

·        If an Audio-Montage had a missing CD-Track end marker, editing a pause in the track list could cause a crash.

·        In certain rare cases, editing a CD-Track pause in an Audio-Montage CD-Track list could shift certain clips erroneously.

·        The status-bar could display time values with the wrong unit.

·        In certain cases, if a plugin had the focus, pressing F1 could block WaveLab.

·        The clip menu options « Play clip », « Play clip selection » and « Play clip with preroll » now play the clip in mode « solo » (all other clips get muted). Same thing when clicking on the playback icons in the clip list.

·        In synchro mode, WaveLab no longer issues an error message when receiving MTC code that corresponds to a negative position (considering the defined offset). Synchro starts as soon as the position is not negative anymore (ie. when the playback cursor can be visible).

·        A clip’s Pan envelope behaved erroneously if the clip level was not 0 dB in the clip list.

·        The « Show tips » preference was always active, even if set to Off (preference dialog).

·        The « Button size » preference did not display the correct value (preference dialog).

·        WaveLab would not run with certain Cyrix processors.

Main changes/corrections in version 3.01-build 4

28/01/2000

·        Improved procedure when opening an Audio-Montage with missing audio files.

·        Certain crossfade looper functions would not work under Windows 95/98 (Sampler menu).

·        Opening WaveLab from Cakewalk was not working properly.

·        Dithering and Master-Section faders were bypassed when burning an Audio-Montage.

·        Running WaveLab under Windows 95 with a Pentium III is not allowed (Intel SIMD instructions are not supported by Windows 95). A stop warning is now displayed.

·        When doing « Save as » on an Audio-Montage which references temporary audio files, you are now invited to save the audio files first.

·        The menu entry « redo » was not displayed correctly.

·        Importing a large number of CD tracks from an exabyte tape was not working correctly (with the optional DDP driver).

·        The program could forget to delete certain temporary audio files.

·        In rare cases, a crash could happen while exiting the program.

·        In Audio-Montage, the key shortcut for « Define impulse » (Nudge sub-menu) has been redefined (was a doubloon).

·        Audio-Montage : the option to test the CD burning of the « first track » was in fact testing all tracks.

·        In the Master Section, the default dithering bit depth value has been set to « 24 bit ».

·        It could happen that a wrong tab name would be displayed to designate the window with the focus (tabs in the WaveLab main frame window).

·        Double clicking on a clip to open it, while the Audio-Montage window is maximized, would add samples at the end of the wave file.

·        A few CD burners would only burn noise rather than the music.

·        German online help has been included.

Main changes/corrections in version 3.01

13/12/2000

·        CDR drivers are now supplied by VOB (previously CeQuadrat). If you need to know what CD burners are actually supported, look in the registry at the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VOB\CDRAPP\Writer\

·        Note #1: if you run WaveLab under Windows NT/2000 and you don’t have « administrator rights », you must ask your administrator to give you read/write access to the above registry key (eg. using regedt32.exe). This should concern very few people.

·        Note #2 : if required, CeQuadrat drivers (GRI_* files, if you have an older WaveLab version, or a CeQuadrat product) can still be used by putting them in the WaveLab’s system folder and renaming the file « icdwapi.dll » as « icdwapi.dl ».

·        It was not possible to run under Windows NT 4.0 service pack 6.

·        WaveLab now accepts letters in the last 7 characters of an ISRC number (not standard, but required by some).

·        The offline « Hi-fi Chorus » effect could sometimes produce a blank result.

·        Audio Signal Generator dialog : it was possible to select the option « dual-mono files » (Audio attributes dialog), while this option is not supported.

·        At any point, a hot key could give the list of the shortcuts that make sense in the context.

·        Index Marker closer than 4 sec as an option.

·        Add personal internet links to the help menu (eg. User favourite support forums)
